My plan is to record as much of this rumpus as I can! There will be a lot of shareable moments a lot of funny moments, and a lot of moments I won't think are funny at the time, but someday might laugh at so I think it's best to collect them all in one place. While some houses are a mix of 1st and 2nd year ACErs, we are all first years headed into the city with naivety and blind optimism. Not to mention that I will be living with 4 other first year teachers, so simultaneously learning to live in community and teach small humans will surely sharpen my balancing abilities in the midst of this chaos. You see what a rumpus this will be? There will be confusion, and lots of noise I'm sure as I try to establish procedures in the classroom, there will be a bustle to keep up with lesson plans and getting to know my students, there will be excitement, lots of excitement and fun if I have anything to do with it, and somewhere along the way I am fairly certain there will be a brouhaha or two. Did I mention that I will be teaching 4th grade in my own classroom? I have 28 students and I have 6 weeks of prior experience in a classroom, not alone. This is the 22nd year of the program and I am very excited to be a part of it! I am also terrified. Essentially over the next two years I will be teaching in an under-served Catholic school while also working towards my Masters in Education. ACE, Alliance for Catholic Education, is a graduate teaching and service program run through the University of Notre Dame. I am not sure I can totally explain everything it is properly, but I've been practicing my elevator pitch. I am fairly certain it is also exactly what I am headed into as I begin my teaching career in Denver, Colorado through ACE. There are things you cannot control about them, but every part of the moment makes you feel powerful and big! That is a rumpus. I am sometimes frustrated when readers keep looking for meaning, as if every. An excitement, a bustle! These things sound like incredible chaos, like the beginning part of diving into crashing waves or the middle part of rollerblading down a giant hill. CHILDREN'S BOOKS AND OTHER ILLUSTRATION WE LOVE. If I were in charge of the dictionary, I would definitely choose these words to go right into the definition, partly because I like the word brouhaha and partly because they are much more positive. It's synonyms include an excitement, a bustle and a brouhaha. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary in my dad's office, a rumpus is a commotion, a noisy disturbance. These are two very important questions you may be asking as you explore my young blog.
